The Learning & Development Specialist is accountable for the design, development, and delivery of training programs related to Life Insurance products, including their sales, servicing, and administration. This role involves facilitating both virtual and in-person training sessions with brokers and managing partners, while also providing mentorship and support during the onboarding process and throughout their tenure with the company. The specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing broker expertise, relationship management skills, and client service capabilities.
What does the Life Learning & Development Specialist do?
- Design and create comprehensive training modules focused on Life Insurance products, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and broker needs.
- Deliver engaging virtual and in-person training sessions for brokers and managing partners, fostering an interactive learning environment that enhances understanding and application of product knowledge.
- Provide dedicated mentorship during the onboarding process for new brokers, ensuring they acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to succeed in their roles.
- Develop ongoing learning initiatives that keep brokers updated on product changes, market trends, and best practices in client service.
- Create and curate training materials, including manuals, e-learning content, and reference guides that support brokers in their daily activities.
- Implement methods to assess the effectiveness of training programs, gathering feedback to continuously improve the learning experience.
- Work closely with product experts to ensure training content is accurate, relevant, and reflects the latest industry standards.
- Provide ongoing support and coaching to brokers, encouraging the application of learned skills in real-world scenarios to enhance client interactions.
- Encourage a culture of knowledge sharing among brokers, facilitating discussions and forums that promote best practices and success stories.
- Ensure that all training programs include necessary compliance training related to Life Insurance regulations and ethical practices.
- Establish a feedback loop to gather insights from brokers regarding training effectiveness and areas for improvement, fostering a culture of continuous enhancement.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as sales and marketing, to ensure that training programs are integrated and supportive of broader business objectives.
- Instill a strong client service orientation in training programs, emphasizing the importance of building long-lasting client relationships beyond the initial sale.
- Conduct training needs assessments to identify knowledge gaps and learning opportunities within the broker team, ensuring targeted program development.
- Manage various learning and development projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals.

- Expertise in developing structured learning paths that meet the needs of different learner groups.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely execution and alignment with objectives.
- Proficient in coaching brokers to apply training concepts in practice, enhancing their performance.
- Understanding of compliance requirements in the insurance industry to ensure training content is relevant and compliant.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a licensed capacity, either as a Life Broker or in a wholesaler role.
- Life Insurance License in the relevant jurisdiction (Ontario, Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia).
- Experience in adult learning or a related background is considered an asset.
- Proven experience in training development and facilitation is preferred.
- In-depth understanding of Life Insurance products, their features, benefits, and regulatory requirements.

Working Conditions
- Works primarily in a standard office setting with a typical climate-controlled environment. The role requires periods of sitting, computer use, and participation in meetings or collaborative sessions. Noise levels are generally low, and the position involves minimal physical exertion.
- The role is required to travel occasionally for meetings with Managing Partners, Life licensed Brokers and related industry events.
